We Challenge You- Daily Health Changes

Now that 2015 is here, it's time to make some changes. What better excuse to start living healthier than a New Year's resolution! Time and time again we have slipped, “forgotten” or just given up throughout the year on the healthy changes that we made and vowed to stick to.

This year, we are taking a new approach. One small change each day to help us get to our healthier selves. That seems doable- right? Below are the details on what we will be working on. We encourage you to join us on this health challenge journey throughout the month. Maybe even let the overachiever in you out and keep it up for the rest of the year!

Mondays: aim for 30 minutes of physical activity throughout the day
·                            -Take a 10-15 minute walk this afternoon
-Try a walking meeting instead of sitting around a table
                             - Play a sport with your kids, friends, or significant other

Tuesdays: eat at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies
                         - Add veggies to your breakfast
                         - Prepare an afternoon snack of fresh fruits or veggies in the morning

Wednesdays: drink only water or low-fat/skim milk all day
                         - Take a water bottle with you to work today
                         - Have some water and take a brisk walk when you need a pick-me-up

Thursdays: aim for 7-8 hours of sleep
                         - Plan a time to go to bed and stick to it
                         - No screens on in the bedroom (TVs, laptops, phones, tablets, etc.)

Fridays: cut back on portion sizes
                        -  Try using smaller plates or bowls
                        -  If you’re eating out, choose the smaller portion option
